There are many ways to help support the library. We are pleased to accept monetary donations, book donations, and volunteer time.

The Friends also support other various needs of the library. Donations can be mailed to: Treasurer, Friends of the Swampscott Public Library, PO Box 28, Swampscott, MA 01907-0028
General Monetary Gifts
At the discretion of the Selectmen, the library can accept restricted and non-restricted monetary donations.
To honor a friend or family member, you can donate funds for the purchase of books in which a bookplate would be placed honoring the recipient.
If you purchase items through Amazon.com you can support the library by going to www.smile.amazon.com & selecting Swampscott Public Library as the entity you want to support. Once that is done, every time you purchase through smile.amazon.com, the library benefits. Even better, you can use the Chrome extension: https://couponfollow.com/smilematic to help you automatically turn the purchase into a donation so you don’t have to remember to do it!
Books may be purchased for the library using our Amazon Wishlist of titles. Pick an item from our list, purchase it, and it will be sent to the library as a gift.
Your web searches and Internet purchases can benefit the library as well. Start your search at GoodSearch.com, type in Swampscott Public Library as your charity and a few cents will be donated to the library.
The library accepts donations of gently used books for the Friends of the Library book sale. Donations are only accepted in the spring and summer prior to the annual fall book sale. We do not accept magazines, textbooks or encyclopedias. The library cannot place a value on your donated books, but we are happy to provide you with a receipt for the number of books that you donated for your tax records.
The Friends of the Library book sale is held each year in September. In addition to the annual sale, there is usually a rack of books for sale in the lobby.
Mailings – Six times a year we need a group of people to gather to help us prepare our newsletter mailing.
Event Planning – The library is constantly offering programs and events. We wold love to have those who would be interested lend a hand.
Book Sale – The preparation for the book sale is a year-long project. Books must be moved from the lobby, sorted and shelved. The book sale itself requires volunteers to set up and sell the books during the sale.
Home Delivery – We ask helpers to deliver and pick up library materials to the sick and home bound.
Book Preparation – We need volunteers who would be available to come to the library to cover and label books and to mend those in need of repair.
