Resetting Your Password in the Evergreen System

You’ll also be able to reset your password at any time if you forgot your old password. In order to use this feature, you must have a valid e-mail address in your library record.

If you have a problem resetting your password, please contact your library for help.

  1. Log in to Your Account — Go to the login page for the catalog, and click on Reset Your Password
  2. Enter the barcode number from your library card without spaces.Note: You can enter either your barcode or your user name here, but the first time you log in, you won’t have a user name. User name is a feature of our new system that lets you set a nickname to use to as an alternative to your password when you login to the catalog.
  3. Check your e-mail. If there was an e-mail address in your library record, you should have received an e-mail message containing a special link that you can use to reset your password.
    • If you received the e-mail message, click on the link and enter your new password.
    • If you did not receive the message, there are two possibilities: You may have a different e-mail address in your library record, and the message was sent there. If you can’t remember what e-mail address you might have used or don’t have access to it, check with your library for help. The message may have been sent to the right address, but not received for some reason. Check to make sure it is not in a spam folder.

Getting a Swampscott Public Library Card:

Any adult resident of any city or town in Massachusetts may obtain a Swampscott Public Library Card. Simply bring in identification with your current address, such as a piece of U.S. mail or a valid driver’s license, fill out a short form at the Main Desk, and you will be issued a free library card. If you already have a library card issued by any NOBLE library, you may use that card at the Swampscott Library without registering for another card.

Children who can write their own names can obtain a library card with a parent or guardian’s signature of authorization. Young Adults age 13 and above may obtain a library card without an adult’s authorization with proof of current residency such as a piece of U.S. mail.

If your library card becomes misplaced, stop by the library or call us to report it missing. A staff member will issue you a new card for a $1.00 replacement fee and deactivate your lost card.

Checking Your Swampscott Public Library Account Online:

In order to check your library account or to to place holds on books from home, you must obtain a Password by visiting the Swampscott Public Library in person and requesting one at the Main Desk.

Login to Your Account

Enter your library card number (without spaces), and your password.
If all information was entered correctly, you will be shown the items you currently have checked out. In most circumstances, you can renew these items or search the catalog and place holds on items from other libraries.

Renewal Information

You may renew books in person, by phone at: (781)596-8867, or online through the Swampscott Library catalog, easily accessed through our Catalog link to the left. You can stop by the library to get a password in order to access your account online.

Returning Materials

If the library is open, please bring your books and other materials inside to the Circulation Desk. If the library is closed, all materials being returned may be placed in the bookdrop located to the right of the front door.

Materials borrowed from nearby libraries may be returned at the Swampscott Library, and if it is more convenient for you, Swampscott materials may be returned at other libraries in the area.
